Convenient online certification exam.

Every NARI Certification candidate must complete and pass a multiple-choice exam for their chosen certification.

How to Take the Exam

All exams are administered online, so you can test from the comfort of your own home.

A live exam proctor will monitor you for the duration of the exam using your cell phone camera.

What You’ll Need
  • Stable internet connection
  • Laptop or desktop computer with a working camera (tablets cannot be used)
  • Cell phone with a working camera
  • Valid ID to verify your identity
  • A quiet, comfortable, well-lit workspace

Coordinating Your Exam

A NARI Certification staff member will email you one month before the exam period begins to confirm you plan to test and to coordinate logistics.

What you need to do

  • Reply to the email to confirm you plan to test
  • If you do not confirm, we will not be able to coordinate an exam for you
  • The week before the exam period begins, you’ll receive your exam link and final instructions
Exam Window

You may take your exam any time (day or night) during the two-week testing period—no appointment needed.

Please note: exams cannot be taken outside the testing window.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you don’t pass on your first attempt, you may retake the exam up to two (2) additional times within two years of your original program enrollment. A $50 retest fee applies to each retake.

If you do not pass after three total attempts or within the two-year eligibility period, you must re-enroll in the certification program and pay all applicable fees to continue.

You may take the exam up to three (3) total times.

Your first exam attempt is included in your certification enrollment fee. Each retake requires a $50 retest fee.

The NARI Certification Board will make reasonable efforts to accommodate eligible candidates who need special arrangements.

To request accommodations:

  • Submit your request in writing at least 60 days before the test date
  • Include documentation on official letterhead from a licensed or certified professional qualified to diagnose and treat special conditions
  • Clearly describe the accommodation(s) requested

Your request will be reviewed, and if approved, you and your exam proctor will be notified.

Approved accommodations must not create an undue burden to the NARI Certification Board or change what the exam is designed to measure.

If you pass, you will be notified that you have successfully completed the credentialing process. Your numeric score will not be provided, and completed exams are not returned for review.

If you do not pass, you will receive a report showing your pass/fail performance by content area to help guide future study. You will not receive details about specific questions missed.

You will be notified of your results within 30 days of the end of the exam period.

We understand candidates are eager to know their results, and we work hard to provide them as early as possible.
