Celect® Cellular Composite Siding wasn’t on Kim’s radar as she was considering products for her new custom home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, in 2012. After a friend suggested it, Kim, a mortgage lender, learned more about Celect’s low-maintenance and long-term performance benefits and convinced her builder to give it a try. Thirteen years later, the decision has proven to be a fruitful one, as the product lived up to its low-maintenance promises and then some.

Celect Siding in Shale Lends Bayfront Vibes

Nestled on the bay side of the small coastal enclave popular with both summer tourists and permanent residents, the two-story, 4,000-square-foot house features five bedrooms and four bathrooms, with a transitional style and a screened-in porch.

Exterior of Home

The exterior features Celect Lap siding in Shale. Celect siding mimics the timeless aesthetic of natural wood while remaining low-maintenance and durable for a lifetime. Made of cellular PVC, Celect resists dirt, seasonal staining, and insects, it withstands harsh weather conditions, and it has a fade-resistant Kynar Aquatec® coating that provides superior UV resistance. It comes with a 25-year color protection warranty.

The home is trimmed with Celect as well, including around the oval-shaped window above the entry door, which lets morning light into the interior.

Low-Maintenance Siding Shines 10+ Years Later

For more than a decade, the Celect siding on this Rehoboth home has needed no maintenance to keep it looking like new, Kim reports. She had concerns when some exterior changes she made required removing lights around the garage door and therefore removing and replacing some of the Celect siding. Her worries were for nothing: “You can’t tell where the original siding ends and the new siding starts,” she says.

Other than painting some of the trim to cover some stains, the siding has required no maintenance in 13 years. “That’s a win,” she says. “It looks fantastic still—it’s timeless.”

She’s also still happy with the Shale she picked. “The color is perfect. We love it,” she says.

In fact, the homeowner was so pleased with the results, she chose Celect siding for the second home she’s currently rebuilding in Florida. She recommends that building pros new to Celect undergo installation training from a Westlake Royal representative to ensure they achieve seamless results as designed and know how to properly cut it to length versus how other materials are handled.

Celect has a patented interlocking system that ensures easy installation and provides a clean, nearly seamless look that also helps keep out moisture. Its unique gravity-lock design helps align courses during installation and enables high wind resistance, which is so valuable on a coastal property like this. Along with Lap siding, Celect is available in Board & Batten, Shake and V-Groove, all based on the same incredible technology set.
