The Austin NARI Chapter received a Chapter Community Service Award for its remarkable efforts to uplift local communities.

The chapter’s impact included:

•Raised more than $3,000 and collected essential supplies for immigrant mothers and families at Casa Marianella.
•Donated more than 500 backpacks filled with supplies worth more than $5,500 to Hays CISD Schools.
•Provided more than $5,500 in toys for children connected to Child Protective Services.

NARI of Madison

NARI of Madison chapter volunteers revitalized the outdoor area at Evansville Manor, adding pollinator plants, a flowering tree, and edible plants to create a peaceful space for residents to enjoy. In addition, the chapter partnered with Logan’s Heart and Smiles to build a safety fence for a family with children with special needs, providing a safe outdoor space for the children to play. These impactful projects highlight NARI of Madison’s dedication to service and community enhancement. Congratulations to NARI of Madison for making a meaningful difference.

NARI Milwaukee

The NARI Milwaukee chapter received the 2025 NARI Chapter Community Service Award for its outstanding work on the Main Street Apartments project. Partnering with Hebron Housing Services, chapter members restored and revitalized a four-unit building in Waukesha, Wis., creating safe, affordable housing for low-income families.

Through donated labor, materials, and expertise, NARI Milwaukee turned a neglected space into a home, offering stability and dignity to those in need. As a result, Main Street Apartments now stand as a beacon of hope, showcasing the power of community and collaboration.

NARI of Greater Sacramento

When a major accessory dwelling unit (ADU) builder went out of business, hundreds of homeowners’ projects were left unfinished, including one Sarah Shuman was building for her father-in-law, a disabled veteran. NARI of Greater Sacramento members stepped in, donating more than $100,000 in labor and materials to fully restore her ADU. Beyond the build, NARI of Greater Sacramento provided resources to help other affected homeowners find trusted NARI remodelers, demonstrating their dedication to rebuilding both homes and trust in the industry.

NARI of Silicon Valley

Through the TurningWheels for Kids Holiday Bike Build, members assembled and distributed 500 bikes, giving children in need the joy of riding. Chapter members also participated in the Great Cycle Challenge USA, raising more than $11,000 for childhood cancer research. Additionally, the chapter supported the Marine Toys for Tots Program, turning chapter offices and showrooms into donation hubs to help brighten the holidays for children facing economic hardship. These efforts reflect the NARI Silicon Valley Chapter’s unwavering commitment to creating meaningful change in its community.

The Chapter Excellence Award is presented to a chapter for work done (other than a specific community project) that impacted the chapter’s area or state in a positive manner and gave the association a higher visibility within the community. The work should have enhanced NARI's image and awareness through local activities, membership campaigns, awards programs, and community service.

NARI of Madison

Since 1983, this chapter has been a leader in the remodeling industry, growing into the nation's third-largest NARI chapter. NARI of Madison’s commitment to the profession is remarkable — investing more than $40,000 in scholarships for local trade schools, hosting Trades Days at high schools, and actively participating in community remodels and service projects. Congratulations to NARI of Madison for shaping the future of the industry and setting the standard of chapter excellence!

Austin NARI

Austin NARI

In November 2021, Michael Curlee, a Buda, Texas resident, fell out of a deer tower, resulting in paralysis of his lower extremities and making his home inadequate. These life-altering injuries meant that the home Curlee, his wife, and son lived in would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, for him to navigate in a wheelchair. Michael couldn’t get in and out of the home. The doorway was too small; it was an older home. After being notified of Curlee’s situation through a member of the chapter, they offered the remodel at no cost to the family. The new floor plan was designed by a NARI Universal Design Certified Professional, and the project was overseen by a NARI Certified Remodeler. The chapter redesigned the front entrance (including a ramp) and the dining area, his bedroom, bathroom, and office so he could use those areas of his home. This remodel cost approximately $170,000, and the chapter secured all materials and labor donations from its suppliers, vendors, and members. This chapter and its members contributed their time and services to create a space that helped Curlee return home with ease after staying with friends while their home was under construction.

NARI of Greater Charlotte

This chapter began to operate in 1990 and officially became a chapter of NARI National in 1992. The chapter currently offers members a wide range of networking and professional development opportunities, including eight monthly dinner meetings, contractor and designer roundtables, women in NARI (WIN) functions, young professional functions, seminars, and trade fairs. This year, they set a record with 72 CotY award entries from 26 distinct companies. The chapter also creates events and opportunities to engage the membership with the community they serve, such as the Annual Tees 4 Kids golf challenge, the Annual Pins 4 Kids bowling event, Toys for Tots, and a program in which NARI members volunteer to cook and serve meals to those in need.

This chapter also takes great pride in its philanthropy, providing scholarships to NARI members and their families for college, university, or trade school education. In addition, trade school scholarships are available to non-members to bolster workforce development in the community.

The chapter also partners with local organizations to support their missions, such as Dream on 3, Safe Alliance, Charlotte Rescue Mission, and Put Tools in Schools. This chapter ended 2023 with 160 members representing the best of the best general contractors, designers, architects, suppliers, and specialty businesses.

The Lifetime Achievement award recognizes accomplishments, awards, local community involvement, and NARI national involvement in both appointed and elected offices.
